Location: Denman Island, BC

The pacific herring are spawning off the coast of where I live. Boats have cast their nets and greedily gobble them up as the local wildlife try to claim their feast of the season. I imagine a a sentry deep in the water, still and quiet most of the year, until they are called to the surface to guard and defend a way of living that cannot speak for itself.
