This sculpture brings together elements from the original Grimm brothers' version of The Frog Prince. When the princess drops her golden ball into a well, a frog offers to retrieve it if she will agree to let him come live with her. The moment her ball is returned, however, she runs away. The frog goes to the palace where the princess' father insists she honor her promise. She is disgusted by the frog eating next to her and when he tries to sleep on her pillow, she throws him against a wall, turning him into a prince - no kissing in this version. In this sculpture, the frog prince proffers a golden ball whilst sitting on a royal goblet. His enchantment is seen in the combination of human and amphibian elements.
