Projects: Krisztina Lazar is an Imaginary Realist artist primarily working in oil paint, watercolor and drawing. She is a Mische Technique lineage holder, a mixture of oil and egg tempera painting revolutionized by modern master, Ernst Fuchs. This technique creates an opalescent under painting that the colors are then glazed over, rendering each painting out of light rather than shadow, bringing the images to life with fractal clarity.
Location: Vallejo, CAWitchs Flight shows three women in the midst of their transformation. The flowers surrounding them are Sacred Datura, Belladonna, Mugwort, and Henbane, poisonous plants that were used in ancient times to achieve altered states of consciousness. The rainbow dream snake has her tail in her mouth, forming an ouroboros, a symbol meaning the cyclical continuation of the universe. The moon waxes to full and wanes to darkness, shining on these sacred rites that have been performed since time immemorial. These women connect with the weather, with nature, with more than human powers, taking on the aspect of the wise vulture, who knows that only through the nourishment of death and decomposition can we fully be alive.
