This piece was done as a mock up for an editorial article about the mythical creatures of water. The header features the embodiment of water: it comes to life in the misty mountains of the Drakensberg (dragon mountains), raining down to earth to create a stream of conciousness that flows as a river, cascading over the cliffs to coil as a serpent with a horse's head at the base of the waterfall. The creepy mermaid inset refers to a legend of underwater folk who drag humans down into the depths to keep them company, not realising that people can't breathe water - or is the mermaid deliberately drowning them?
