This piece is based on the Medieval 'Unicorn Tapestries' series and is my take on the escape of the unicorn. In the final tapestry the unicorn is captured in a small enclosure with the sticky fruits of a pomegranate tree dripping on its fur. I imagined if she escaped, she would want to destroy that tree. Each flower depicted was chosen for its traditional meaning and in reference to the piece: Daisy - innocence, Forget Me Not - remembrance, Strawberry - perfection, Bluebell - faerie magic, Daffodil - self love, Thistle - misanthropy, Pomegranate - foolishness. The piece is made from laser cut fabric book paper, silk, real goldwork embroidery threads, watercolor, gouache, 13K white and 24K yellow gold leaf, and vintage glass beads/findings.
